To Live Again - An Advent Journey using the Christmas Classic, “It's a Wonderful Life”

Beginning Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 7:00 in Bayless Hall

Sid and Francyne Underwood will be leading this four lesson Advent study on Wednesday evenings. Just as Christmas can promise so much and often deliver so little, our own lives can seem bitter

sweet when we consider dreams we may have had that never came to pass. But, as George Bailey discovered in the classic Christmas movie “It's a Wonderful Life”, it is never too late to re-evaluate our lives, to find so much to be thankful for, and to live again. This can also be a time to discover new hope in our relationship with God. “To Live Again” is an original Advent study based on and inspired by “It's a Wonderful Life”. Each week the study session will include watching a portion of this classic Christmas movie structured around the following themes:

* Hopes and Dreams - Nov 20

* When Life Doesn't Go Our Way - Dec 4

* In the Dark Times - Dec 11

· The Right Perspective - Dec 18

· It isn't necessary to purchase the book for this Advent study, but if you do wish to purchase it, it's available in paperback from for $8.56.

Calling all holiday bakers for December Meet and Greet! Please join in the festivities by participating in the first annual Great Cookie Meet and an Old Fashioned Cookie Exchange by not really.

1. Everything doesn’t have to be a cookie, and it’s not intended to be an exchange.

2. We just want folks to have a snack and a cup of coffee and greet each other between services.

"The Christmas Story" King James Version

The Story of the birth of Christ As told through Luke and the Story of the Birth of Christ As told through Matthew.

Advent Wreath

With a traditional Advent wreath you light one candle each Sunday before Christmas for four weeks and then the final candle is lit on Christmas. While the candle burns we read part of the Christmas story and talk and pray about the coming of Christ and the miracle of his birth and life. Try making up a no-wreath "wreath" with a sleigh and five candles, a plate or you can just be creative.

The promises advent calendar

Trying to eliminate waste from our lifestyle and, let’s be honest, advent calendars can involve a lot of plastic, packaging and waste. This calendar will appeal to the environmentally-aware teens in your life. You write your own personal treat and cover it with a gold star that can be scratched off.

The re-usable advent calendar

Another way to get around the excess packaging in advent calendars you can make your own that you can use year after year. Purchase some small boxes and decorated them. A favorite advent calendar idea for teens.
